The goal of controlling your anger is to reduce both
your emotional feelings and the psychological arousal that anger causes. You
can’t get rid of, or avoid the things or the people that enrage you, nor can
you change them, but you can learn to control your reaction.
The best attitude to bring to such a situation then
is not to focus on finding the solution, but rather on how you can handle and
face the problem.
Here are some steps you can try in controlling or
putting your anger in check….
1. Acknowledge Your Anger:
Acknowledging ones anger is a big step that helps a lot, you can accept the
fact that you are angry even if you are on your right or not. There is every
tendency that you will overcome it quickly. It is funny how this helps, I
remember having a friend that has anger issues, I kept talking him out of it
for a while but the funny thing was that, the moment he acknowledged his anger;
he was able to deal with it a whole lot.
Understand What Triggers Your Anger: Take time to know
and understand what gets you angry more often and get to deal with it either by
walking away from it when it started or just avoiding it before it starts at
all. It might not sound simple or easy to do, but trust me it helps most.written by: Nwoji Valerie
