Uche Jombo to host African Film Festival

actress, director and producer Uche Jombo Rodigruez is to host the 2016 edition of the African Film Festival between July 1 and July 3 in Dallas, Texas.

The excited filmmaker took to her Twitter account to post a poster which captioned her as host of the event. “The African film festival 2016 Dallas…yours truly will be there,” she wrote.

With over 35 films from over 15 African countries, attendees of the festival can be guaranteed of a diverse film experience while participants have a chance to showcase the best of Africa’s creatives. Some of the films that would be screened during the festival include A People at Sea (Cameroon) by Samson Tarh, Waiting for the (T)rain (Burkina Faso, France) by Simon Panay, Gender and Number(Ethiopia, Spain) by Ines Poggio, My Gallery (Cameroon) by Enah Johnscott and Wings of my Dreams(Nigeria) by Ike Nnaebue.

While screening holds at Angelika Film Center, Cadillac Dreams Studios and at Pan-African Connection on July 1 and July 2, the awards ceremony will hold on July 3 at Dallas City Performance Hall.

The African Film Festival (TAFF), a non-profit organisation created to give back to the African Independent film community is listed with the Texas Film Commission, the Dallas Film Commission, and the City of Dallas Arts District.

The festival would look at films in several categories such as Best Narrative Feature, Best Documentary Feature, Best Narrative Short, Best Documentary Short, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress. Other categories are Best Emerging Filmmaker, Best Cinematography, Best Original Soundtrack, People’s Choice: Best Poster and People’s Choice: Best Trailer
