Why We Should Never Say Never

Though it may come off as slightly contradictory by the looks of this headline, I think that we should try to refrain from using the word “never” in our every day vocabulary. It has the simplest definition and in and of itself is a pretty self-explanatory word (by definition, meaning “not ever” or “not in any degree” as Merriam-Webster describes it).

So, why should we never say never, you may ask?

9 Ways To Stop Overthinking

If you’re someone who spends a lot of time “in your own head” mulling over things ad nauseam, you may think you’re alone.  You’re not… Not by a long shot!
Overthinking is a natural part of life for many of us, even when we’re not aware we’re doing it.  Research has shown that overthinking is prevalent in young and middle aged adults, with 73% of 25-35 year-olds identified as overthinkers.  If you find yourself spending an unreasonable amount of time thinking through something, twisting it around in your head until you’ve seen it from every angle and possibility, chances are you too are an overthinker.
There are very few benefits to being an overthinker.  Being logical (and therefore unemotional) about taking action has a lot of merit and can have positive results, but there’s a difference between thinking about something just enough – and thinking about something to the point of analysis paralysis.  The short of it is, you don’t want to be an overthinker!

Eight Keys to Forgiveness

Sometimes the hurt is very deep, such as when a spouse or a parent betrays our trust, or when we are victims of crime, or when we’ve been harshly bullied. Anyone who has suffered a grievous hurt knows that when our inner world is badly disrupted, it’s difficult to concentrate on anything other than our turmoil or pain. When we hold on to hurt, we are emotionally and cognitively hobbled, and our relationships suffer.
Forgiveness is strong medicine for this. When life hits us hard, there is nothing as effective as forgiveness for healing deep wounds. I would not have spent the last 30 years of my life studying forgiveness if I were not convinced of this.
Many people have misconceptions about what forgiveness really means—and they may eschew it. Others may want to forgive, but wonder whether or not they truly can. Forgiveness does not necessarily come easily; but it is possible for many of us to achieve, if we have the right tools and are willing to put in the effort.

Below is an outline of the basic steps involved in following a path of forgiveness.

5 Realities of Influence

1. Positional influence is limited
Understanding influence is essential for effective leadership.
The reality was, Joshua and Caleb were leaders in the tribes of Ephraim and Judah. The problem was that their influence didn’t reach beyond their tribes.
In fact, it appears they couldn’t even influence their own tribe! Positional leadership has limited influence.

5 Hints On Achieving A Radical Career Change

Career paths will, of course, be very different for everyone who hopes to make a radical change. This is a very individual example – and an inspiring one. So: how do you set aside what you’ve done before and change tracks?

Don’t be surprised if finding the right route isn’t a straight path
“I never knew what I wanted to do when I was at school, so I decided to study law. It seemed like a sensible route to a job so I did three years at university, a year at law college and a year doing my articles – but in fact, I graduated, I qualified, I retired. I knew I didn’t like academic law but I didn’t know what else I wanted to do. I had done art up to O-level exams and enjoyed it and I started the A-level, but gave it up as I was

Life's Second Chance

I believe that the sun shines after the rain,
I believe if you don't get hurt you'll never gain.
I believe in not doing things the easy way,
I believe that being selfish doesn’t pay.

I believe in a second chance,
I believe in a life long romance.
I believe there is life after death,
And standing up to a life of mess.
